Smooth(ie) Move…The Smoothie Recipes I Can’t Wait to Try This Summer

Alright Anjéls, summer is almost here. This means that now is the time to find your favorite healthy habits and stick to them!  I’ve personally decided to stop consuming excessive amounts of Nutella (no promises), and to eat more fruits and veggies! What better way to become a fruit (and veggie) ninja than to break out that NutriBullet (or Ninja) and start making smoothies? In my excitement for the summer, I scouted out a few smoothie recipes that I plan on trying, and I couldn’t resist sharing! A healthy, refreshing smoothie in the heat of the summer is completely irresistible, so here are a few smoothie recipes that are bound to tickle your taste buds without sabotaging your summer health kick! 

1. Blueberry Pie Smoothie

Blueberries are a super food, known for their antioxidant power. It’s been proven that blueberries even promote mood stabilization...which can be pretty useful when your hormones are driving you crazy! So blueberry pie must not be so bad for us after all, right? Well, it’s still pie, so… But don’t fret, this blueberry pie smoothie recipe looks like it’ll put any actual pie to shame!
Ingredients:
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1 cup almond milk
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1 frozen banana, cut into chunks
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-2 graham crackers (optional)


 

  2. Pineapple Spinach Smoothie

What a tantalizing treat! This refreshing recipe seems like the ultimate guilt free indulgence for any sticky summer day. And the best part? It’s incredibly healthy! Research studies show that the healthiest way to consume spinach is in juice form, so drinking this smoothie is like maxing out on health points! Spinach is another one of those all-powerful superfoods. It offers a plethora of benefits, running the gamut from weight loss to Alzheimer’s prevention to complexion improvement. Popeye was definitely on to something!
Ingredients:
⅔ cup low-fat vanilla Greek yogurt
1 banana
1 cup pineapple
1 cup fresh baby spinach, packed
¼ - ½   cup apple juice (or skim milk)
Ice (optional) 
 

 

3. Strawberry Cheesecake Smoothie

Okay, I’ll admit, this recipe sounds too good to be true. While it calls for multiple dairy products to be used, it’s still better than the bowl of ice cream that would’ve been eaten anyway! Cheesecake is basically my kryptonite, so when I saw this recipe, I nearly fell over. By using low-fat products, you’ll be able to slurp away with no hesitation. Please excuse my watering mouth… 
Ingredients:
1 cup frozen strawberries
¾ cup plain fat-free Greek yogurt
½ cup low-fat milk
2 ounces low-fat cream cheese
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 ½ tablespoons agave nectar
